The hydraulic solenoid valve is widely used in hydraulic systems, its main function is to change, allow or restrict the flow of the hydraulic liquid. There are single head hydraulic solenoid valve and the double head hydraulic solenoid valve. For the double head hydraulic solenoid valve, it uses 2 hydraulic solenoids named (X and Y) on either side of the valve for actuation. The valve consists of a cylindrical spool (Z) with land and grooves. The land blocks the flow while the groove allows the flow through the valve.
The hydraulic solenoid valves have different number of ports and number of switching positions. For a 5/3-way valve hydraulic valve in above, 5 represents the number of ports and 3 represents the number of positions. P is the pressure port, A and B are working ports and T is the return port.
When the solenoid X is actuated, the spool is pulled towards the left by the electromagnetic force. When solenoid Y is actuated, the spool slides towards the right. This sliding of the spool opens, closes or changes port connections, which alters the direction of the flow.
The hydraulic directional solenoid valves are widely used in the hydraulic system, here below are some examples of applications:
1) Engineering Machinery: excavator, wheeled loader, automobile starter, crawler dozer, motor scraper, bulldozer and road roller are using hydraulic systems.
2) Agricultural Machinery: hydraulic systems are widely used in all types of harvesters, tractor, and hydraulic suspension system.
3) Automobile Industry: there are some parts of cars that are hydraulic systems. For example, hydraulic brake system, hydraulic dump mechanism, and the aerial ladders are hydraulic systems.
